There's been a surge in talk and awareness of menopause, and we're here for it all! We've got peri and post in our office, so its a daily topic of conversation.

Menopause happens to absolutely every woman out there at some point. What we haven't been told enough, is how our emotional and psychological well-being can be impacted just as much as the physical changes we experience.

One of the often-overlooked aspects of menopause is how it can affect a woman's confidence.

1. Physical Changes and Self-Esteem

The physical changes that come with menopause can have a huge impact on a woman's self-esteem. Hormones have zero stability, and often lead to lead to weight gain, changes in skin texture, and hair loss, which may trigger feelings of insecurity and a loss of confidence. It's absolutely essential to remember that these changes are entirely natural and part of the aging process. This can be incredibly hard, and we get it! We don't want to change! We were just 25!

2. Moody... Me?

Hormones.. again.. can cause mood swings. They can make us feel out of control and impact self-confidence. Keeping a diary of how you're feeling day to day can really help. It's helping me recognise when I might be having a surge of particular hormones, and manage it a little better than shouting at someone, and then reaching for a bar of Galaxy.

3. Self-Identity and Purpose

It's a weird time, and as we transition through this mammoth time which can last over a decade; we question our roles and identity. Our children might be older, our career goals look different. What do we want to do with the rest of our lives? As we try to redefine our purpose, and identity, this can really impact our confidence.

4. Pressures from Society

Women feel such a big pressure to always look and feel youthful. Fillers, procedures, and even surgery are on the rise for women who want to look their best. Menopause is a reminder that we are all subject to the natural aging process.

These pressures can really impact our confidence, and shine a spotlight on our insecurities. We've found some really fabulous products which have been developed to support pro aging. Studio 10 make up is our favourite make up brand right now.

Top Tips on Regaining Confidence

Hack Your Hormones.- Davinia Taylor recently published a book on hormones in peri-menopause, and how to hack them. It's fascinating. We suggest reading it rather than the audio book, as you are going to want to make a lot of notes. this has been a bit of a game changer when it comes to balancing hormones.

Natural Remedies - Learn what natural options there are to help with hormone balance, and remove symptoms of menopause. these in turn help you generally feel much better about yourself. I like L-Theanine for reducing anxious feelings, and Biocin for helping my hair, nails and skin.

Educate Yourself: Understanding the physical and emotional changes that occur during menopause can help you understand what's happening and why, and help you find a solution or get support.

EXERCISE! - Self care activities, especially ones which help the release of happy hormones are always going to give you a confidence boost

Self-Care: Prioritise self-care activities like a balanced diet, and adequate sleep to support your physical and emotional wellbeing.
